Monday 12th february

Ellen had to go to the north to Toys R Us as it is Gavin's birthday later this week and we were in search of a suitable bike, which we found. I took the opportunity to escape from Adeje for a couple of hours, and reconnoitred suitable gifts ofr the Mook, who will be 3 next month. Also had a look in H&M where they had a few good bits and bobs, although I lacked any funds. It is always the way that when you have no money, you always see a few things and think "Oh! I'd like that" Needless to say, next time I go and I have the cash, I'll see nothing.
Took Lucy to her music and movement class, which whilst not a complete success, was not an abject failure. Everything was ok as little girls of different sizes, in various hues of pink, dressed in leotards and pink leather ballet shoes arrived and skittered into the studio. Lucy followed and seemed to be quite happy running around with them until the teacher closed the door, and her big square mouth opened. I thought that she'd be ok as she could see me through the glass, but obviously not, and I was allowed to go in and sit with her.
For the first twenty minutes she howled, the next 10 minutes she pleaded to go home, the next 15 minutes she sat on my lap and watched what was going on thoughtfully, and then in the last 15 minutes, when a big bin full of cat masks and glittery pompoms were brought out she happily joined in the prancing, to the extent that she had to be told to sit down again.
I'll persevere next week because thinking about it, it must have been a pretty daunting experience for her, and hopefully in time it'll become something that she gets alot of fun and enjoyment out of and maybe instil a little poise. I'll just have to keep my inner 'ballet mother' side in check. (I can't knit anyway, and it's too hot for legwarmers!)

Funny little mookster. Who would have thought ballet could be so terrifying? Quite sorry she got told to sit back down again once she got into it though.. is it time for 'good toes, bad toes' yet?

yes, there was definitely a bit of 'good toes naughty toes' going on, although this was still at the point when Lucy was refusing to join in....
