Wednesday 24th May

I'd felt the fear yesturday, and hadn't done it anyway (my spanish homework), but as the course has more or less finished I went anyway and whilst what I should have done was still as clear as dishwater by the time we finished, I have the satisfaction of knowing that at least I have stuck the course out until the bitter end where so many others have sloped off and vanished! Graciela must think that I'm not such a lost cause though because she told me if I was going to come back in November I should register myself for nivel C. (I hasten to add that she also pointed out should there be an influx of talented and fluent students, she will review this and may put me back in B)
I have also allowed myself to get roped into a religious festival in June. ( This is NOT as scary as it sounds!) On Saturday 16th they close the main street in Adeje to traffic and make alfombras (carpets) out of coloured salt/sand in the form of religious pictures. I think it is in honour of Corpus Christi, although not being particularly up on churchy stuff I'm not sure. The next day (Sunday) there is a big procession down from the church and they get walked over. I have heard about this before but never seen it, so I have agreed to give a hand in laying the dyed salt, because the carpets are approximately 4m x 4m, and apparently Graciela was stuck there until 5am last year because all her helpers disappeared at about 7 o'clock! People come from all over to see these alfombras, before they get walked over and it should be a colourful spectacle, to say the least.
Lucy was a delight at the park today. Pointed at some pidgeons and proclaimed at the top of her little voice (angel tones to my ears) "birds!" . Ditto to trees and numerous other items, once back home belonging to "daddy's!" For once the little kid swings with the frame around were free, so we had a good 15mins of swingies. She likes me to sing "sing a song of sixpence", but four and twenty blackbirds are substituted for four and twenty mookies baked in a pie, to much mirth.
Not much else to report. Checked Shiver Me Timbers for sister info, and she has had a hellish day at work. All I can say is (and I know she will read this), is go on the steely spice!
