Thursday 25th May

Photo shows clear blue skies to go with ELO.
Did my good deed for the day after dropping off Lucy and booked Emma and Amy into a pony club which is running over the summer holidays. Its a weeks course where they learn how to care for ponies aswell as starting them off riding. If they like it then they can go for lessons on a Saturday when they are up here, as the stables are in Fanabe, a small town (even smaller than Adeje!) on the way up the motorway from Las Americas. I think that they will be quite excited, as they don't really have a hobby and I think that they will really enjoy it. As it is not until the end of July, I've arranged that we can go and have a look on the weekend.
Fed Lucy a selection tasty canarian produce for lunch with lots of fresh melon (La Palma) pineapple (El Hierro) and tomatoes (Tenerife). I can't count the cucumber as that came from Holland, and I suspect the Philadelphia and cream crackers came from elsewhere too! Afters were a Tenerifian banana chopped up with really yummy chocolate chip icecream. We must be well on our way for our 5 a day! The canarians are quite proud of their Canarian-ness, and food is labeled with a little double yellow and white canary if it comes from these islands.
The sunflowers are hanging on in there, and although Emma's stalk has repaired itself and no longer needs a peg for support, some pesky teeny tiny caterpillers have been munching. Luckily I caught them before the plant was too chewed, and gave them all a squirt of insect killer, so hopefully the damage is not irrepairable. I think that I've overwatered my bouganvillia again as it is looking all droopy. Lets hope that all the leaves don't all fall off again, because then it looks daft (and bald) especially as Hop put up a trellis behind it.
Had another musical evening, with sing-along-Hop and forgot to watch big brother again. ELO's Clear Blue Skies kept coming on, and I became rather suspicious at its loudness and observed that for every track Hop picked, the volume went up, and when it was my turn, I was told to turn it down again. This was proved as I went to bed about 10.30, and at approximately 11pm the mook came padding into our room, having been woken up by the Dead Kennedys belting out their cheery and happy song Holiday in Cambodia.
