Sunday 24th September.

Lucy's cold finally caught up with me today and I've felt very sniffy and sorry for myself all day. Took Lucy to the small park this afternoon, as I couldn't face the long slog up the hill, and she had an hour or so clambering on everything. She is now very competant at climbing on railings, and made me smile when she was on a tricky bit about eyelevel to me because she looked at me and said 'very careful!', whilst I stood by with my strong mummy arms ready to catch her if she fell.
Enjoyed watching Gloucester Cathedral on the Antiques Roadshow, as it's ages since I've been there. I can remember going when we were quite small, and there was a little bookshop where we were allowed to get either a bookmarker, or these little books, which were religious stories. I think the last time I went was about 9 or 10 years ago, when I found myself in Gloucester at a loose end, and wandered in on the spur of the moment. It was one of those cold but clear and bright winter days (which are a rarity in that part of the world, as its usually raining in winter there) and the sun was streaming in through the huge stained glass window, making coloured patterns on the stone flagged floor, and the boys choir was practising. The effect of the coloured glass and the crystal clear voices of the choir was so beautiful it made all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Later, I was glued to Jane Eyre which I've been waiting for since I saw the trailors about a week ago. Obviously they've had to edit and mix it up abit as there are only 4 episodes, but to complain would really be splitting hairs. They've done a good job on casting Jane as she looks like she has stepped straight out of a Rossetti or Burne-Jones pre-Raphealite painting of about 1850. I also thought that there was a passing resemblance to my sister, which after nosing on her blog, I find her bloke picked up on this too. (KT disagrees with this theory.)
1 Comments:
yes, and she didn't approve of that either.
