Thursday 21st September.
Spent the day unenthusiastically putting my house in order, and attacking the ironing before the pile careered out of control, as Lucy has been invited to a party on Saturday afternoon, which is my usual designated time slot for de-creasing our clothes.
Went to the park pm, as usual, and had to smile when it was time to leave because Lucy, obviously objecting to being hoiked out of the play area and into her pushchair really shouted "BYEEE!" at this English couple who were sat there minding their own business. The way she said it made me chuckle all the way down the hill.
Watched a programme about smacking after Lucy had gone to bed. I've never been particularly keen on the idea, but after having witnessed what went on in the houses of these 5 families over a 12 day period, I have reached the conclusion that it is bullying, and something that I'll now avoid at all costs. Interestingly enough they had a psycologist who said that it is fairly pointless to smack small children, because alot of the time they can't connect the smack to the 'crime' they have committed. I thought that actually smacking your kid was now against the law in England, but apparently not so, providing you only use your hand, and don't leave more than a red mark which disappears quickly. (Well, thats ok then??) Initially I thought that the government was pc meddling again, in what should be a parental area, but if it stops parents beating their children with wooden spoons (like one particularly scary woman who allowed herself to be filmed smacking her 3 children 20 times over a 12 day period) then surely it must be a good thing.
