wednesday 31st May

Lucy's nursery had their canarian day celebrations today, so I've treated you to another Canarian Mook picture. I have to say they all looked very cute in their teeny tiny folk costumes. I would have tried to take a picture af them all, but there wasn't much point because they had to go in a different room, and a few were howling (Mook included).
Had a rough nights sleep as Lucy fell out of her bed at about 12.30am, with loud cries, and it took me ages to get back to sleep (it only took her about 2 mins). Then she had a coughing fit, woke herself up and came in our bed at about 3am where she coughed in my face and ear for about 20 mins. I took her back to her own bed, being conscious (and conscientious) of the fact that Hop had work and is grumpy when he hasn't had enough sleep and stayed with her until she dropped off. By this point it was about 4am, so drifted back to my own bed and slipped in and out of consciousness until about 6.30am, where upon I fell into deep sleep just in time to wake up. (With a thick head and puffy face)
Had a note in the post box to pick up the birthday card from Grandad which had been returned to him, and he had sent back registered post, and was very touched to find that he had included for Lucy a photograph of my Dad when he was a similar age, taken in 1943, which Grandad had carried in his wallet whilst on active service in WW2. He has written this on the back for when she gets older. Must have extreme sentimental value for him, and I think that this is a lovely thing to have done for Lucy. He also sent me a picture of him and Auntie Jean, and although it is about 14 years since I have seen them, they don't look that different. I'm really going to see if I can sort out a way to go and see them this summer, so that they can meet Lucy.
