Monday 12th June

Another earth crackingly hot day on this small rock of an island. Occupied the morning with bank tasks and trying to get my shoe (from that drunken mummy night) fixed. The guy in the cobbler exclaimed "a disaster!" and I replied "yes it was an absolute disaster!" to which he replied in the negative as to fixing it, so that is the last time I EVER spend over 30 euros on a pair of flip flops, even if they look a million dollars!
Had another letter from grandad, this time enclosing a copy of the Rontree family tree, all the way back to the late 1700's! I spent an hour in the afternoon putting it onto the genes reunited tree that I have started, and found that there are several exact matches with some of the earlier Rontrees, so I'll have to wait and see if anybody gets in touch. We have 5 matches with the names on the tree of somebody called Raymond, who is probably a distant relative. It's very interesting in an anoraky kind of way.
Had a sing a long with mook after lunch. She really tries to copy the songs, and is quite good at doing some of the actions (dingle dangle scarecrow and heads, shoulders). It ended up with us chasing each other around the rug in the living room before collapsing in a big heap of laughter. Took ourselves up to the big park before tea with Burt. (Is Burt the new Mr Turt?) and then had a box standard evening of news, playing with the farmyard thingy, bath and bed.
