Saturday 11th November
We were very rudely awakened at about 7.30 this morning by the dulcit tones of Emma and Amy squabbling, which in turn affected Hop, forcing him to abandon his lie in in a filthy temper. This kind of set the tone for the day although I had a bit of a smile to myself when I heard Hop call Emma Claire by mistake, and he got the indignant response "NEVER CALL ME BY THAT NAME AGAIN!"
Took the kids to a birthday party in the afternoon which thankfully got us out of the house, whilst Hop went to play football halfway up Teide. Unfortunately he did something to the cartilage in one of his legs, and I had to go and pick him up, from a random small spanish town in the hills called Fasnia. This was reached by a very narrow and windy road which appeared to reach giddy heights, and would seemingly have had a very good view of the south of the island had I been able to take my eyes off the road and the hairpin bends. I was quite enjoying the drive when i found myself caught up in some kind of road rally, with a swarm of very small sporty cars painted in bright colours. I don't think that they were particularly pleased to see me though! I eventually found Hop, who limped into the car and we then had to set about the task of finding a pharmacy which was open at 7.30, which was the time when we got back to civilisation.
When, in the end we got home, and Hop said 'I don't suppose there is anything for tea' I was able to smugly reply 'Yes, dear. There is a lasagne in the oven' To which he replied, after investigation 'It's cold!' I thought the fact that I'd already made and cooked it in itself was nothing short of a minor miracle, but apparently not!
