Saturday 17th June

The plan for an undisturbed snooze was foiled, first by lucy and then the other two jumped on the bandwagon (or should I say bed) so there were 5 of us in there. Hop unusually got out of bed to bring me a coffee and the bokbok which was a rare occurance and for me the lap of luxury. I returned the favour by removing all the kids to the supermarket to get some buckets and danglers. (Annoying little plastic animal things which come out of cunningly situated machines near the doors, cost 1 euro a throw and are nearly impossible to get by on the sly!)
When eventually everyone was rounded up and beach bags were packed, one bag forgotten so we had to loop back much to the annoyance of Hop and a quick detour to get some armbands we eventually got to the beach. The sun was out, and Peach took up the role of chief entertainer with his canarian sea frog impressions (!) and general frollicking in the surf with the girls. Hop plotted up on a sunbed and had a massage, and me and Nats had a good old natter whilst keeping an eye on Lucy who was happily playing with a teeny tiny watering can which came with her bucket and spade.
Went for lunch , which was a direct improvement on yesturday, although lucy pinched nearly all my chicken until Hop gave her some chips. Lashings of delicious ice-cream for all, followed by a tad more lounging.
Poor Nats somehow nearly poked her eye out last night, and it looked really sore. When we met for dinner later it was absolutely streaming, hence the hand over eye in the photo. Hop stayed home to mind the bairn (it is impossible to get him out of the house except for football on a saturday evening, because of 'the meeting' on a Sunday morning) so just the three of us went to Chez Beber, which is probably the nicest French Restaurant available to mankind in Tenerife. Couldn't fault the food and we gorged ourselves on smoked salmon and fois gras pate for starters, and then munched our way through some delicious fillet steak with wild mushroom sauce, followed by greedy girl puddings, so I'll not need to eat until about Tuesday now.
Had a bit of a nightmare trying to get a taxi, and in the end I had to jump on the back of Peach's moped and scoot off to try and find one, which after two false starts we did, and I was back home and tucked up in bed by witching hour after a very enjoyable evening. Had a nice full tumtums, and a warm glow from being at the beach/guzzling wine. (Although I did feel a bit guilty because I was supposed to help with the alfombras for corpus christi.)
