Monday 31st July

Yeehawwww! The first day of our holidays, as Lucy has no nursery. Spent the morning simultaneously dossing and tidying, and managed to get all the downstairs done, with assistance/hinderance from the Mook cleaning company. We had a respite from cleaning and watched the Lion King (nyon in mook speak)before toddling up the Mercadona to get some tea. Bumped into Moira, who went to Spanish classes with me for a bit, and had a chat by the fruit and veg, and then bumped into another aquaintence by the till. Her daughter is slightly younger than Lucy, although quite abit bigger, and goes to the same nursery, same class as the mook.
Came home and cooked tea, and settled down to watch the news when who should appear infront of my eyes, protesting about the closure of the Dilke Hospital, in the Forest of Dean, but my very own Mother! Shaking her banner, and getting her tu'pence worth in. Said to the mook 'quick! Nanny's on the tv'. To which she rushed over expectantly, but it was only on for a couple of seconds. Phoned mum to congratulate her on her appearance. I even stayed up to watch the later version to catch it again. Just a fleeting glimpse of her, but recognisable, none the less! Lucy has an Emily Pankhurst nanny, as this is not the first time Ma Ronners has been out and about protesting about things. Hops two girls call her Mary Poppins, although she is more like the mother of the two kids in the film, who goes out tying herself to railings. ( N.B. slight exaggeration)
Felt loads better so killed the ironing pile, and then felt like killing Hop, as a rogue black sock had got into the whites and turned everything a patchy blue grey. Major casualty was a new nice big bath sheet, which was cream, and is now decorated with inky splotches. Lets see if vanish lives up to the adverts!
