Saturday 15th July
Saturday morning scramble getting 3 kids up and about, and I ducked out with the Mook to the post office fairly early on as the other two were driving me mad, intentionally so, it would seem. Thankfully they had gone out with their father by the time I came back and then played out for a while, so peace was restored whilst I blazed a trail through the housework.
Went round the pool with Ellen, and her kids in the afternoon, and it was nice to see our 3, and her 3 playing together happily in the kid pool. Makes me realise how much more confident Lucy is these days, as last summer I had to buy her a little tiny paddling pool to sit in because she refused to get in the baby pool. I had to physically haul her out, as she was having so much fun but had turned blue, with teeth chattering.
Watched a bit of Sport Aid after Lucy went to bed. I saw a harrowing story about these kids in India, one lot having to work on the railways to try and make their way in the world, and another lot working on this toxic rubish dump trying to scrabble waste plastic together, again trying to just stay alive. All these kids were around 7 years of age either abandoned by their families because they were too poor to feed them, or orphaned. Breaks your heart.
